In this crazy school year, we have seen remarkable challenges. Recently we were faced with a couple of days where we could not hold classes due to winter weather. We hope to avoid that situation in the future by utilizing our 1:1 computer capability at the middle school to provide REMOTE DAYS instead of snow days or to avoid missing days should COVID force a closing.
FSMS will utilize our 1:1 capability to provide teaching and learning via Zoom and Google Classroom. Teachers will be teaching remotely following their regular in-person schedule.
(see schedule below)
Since we can’t always predict when winter weather will affect our school, it is important for students to take their devices home daily.
The goal is to continue to provide teaching and learning as well as completing the required number of school days set by the State Legislature and complete our school year on time without the need for extended days in May or even June.
Students who have the capability with internet access are expected to log into their class Zoom at the beginning of each period for instruction.
Attendance will be taken each period from the Zoom attendees.
Students who cannot access the online Zoom should call the FSMS office at 620-223-3262 to inform the school of the reason the student cannot participate on this remote day. Examples would be “no internet access”, “no device available”, etc…
Students missing the remote sessions will have opportunities to make up missed material as each Zoom session will be recorded and posted to the teacher’s Google Classroom by the following day.
