GAITING CRITERIA QUICK FACTS
Mask Optional Gaiting Criteria are in effect Monday, October 18, 2021.
Both criteria must be met for a school building to be determined as Mask Optional Status.
Building status will be determined weekly by district and building administration.
Communication with building status will be sent directly to parents each Friday and updated on our Covid Attendance Dashboard page.
Staff and students will still be required to wear a mask on any form of school transportation. This includes extracurricular activities, field trips, etc., per Federal Order.
Individuals/families who choose to continue to wear masks even during a possible mask optional phase are encouraged to do so.

30 New COVID+ cases per week
2% absences related to positive for COVID-19 in the educational building
BUILDING STATUS DEFINITIONS
Mask Optional - All of the guidelines have been met on the Gaiting Criteria for a school building.
Mask Required - One or more of the guidelines have NOT been met on the Gaiting Criteria for a school building.
It is important to understand that your child’s mask optional opportunity may change due to absenteeism rates within your child’s building or due to county incidence rates. Students will need to have a mask ready if this determination is made. It is the responsibility of the child and/or parent to have a mask ready, if required. If the determination is made that masks will be required in the building, the building administrator will send out a notification to parents.
MASK WEARING IS STILL REQUIRED ON ALL USD 234 TRANSPORTATION
Students and staff are still required by Federal Order to wear a mask on public transportation, which includes all district transportation. Your child will still be required to wear a mask on a school bus, school van, or any other form of school transportation. This includes extracurricular activities, field trips, etc. Once again, it is the student’s responsibility to have a mask ready to wear if they are going to use school district transportation services.
